The Rules in Senior care
from:In caring for older people, there are actually no rules. As human beings, each of us has instincts to care and react when the need arises. You can only wonder in amazement when faced in a situation wherein you have to look after someone, especially an elderly, that you will know what to do.
The Cycle of Life
Isn't it true that when a baby is born, a mother is also born? Just like a mother to a newborn baby, wherein the former has to grow with the latter. That baby when he/she has grown up may or may not return the favor of taking care of their aging parents.
It's not a responsibility that anyone is asking from anybody to be obliged to do. It depends on the children if they want to own up to such task, especially if the older members of the family have some kind of sickness or are in state wherein caring for them would be an ordeal.
The Choices
Family members, when faced in a situation wherein they have a senior member who needs special care and attention, may opt to take care of them or get someone to do the job.
In some cases where the children of older parents have settled with their own families far from where their parents are, a nursing home may be the best option that they have in situations like this.
Older people, who have families, whether they live with them or they only provide for their financial needs, are still very lucky. Because there many senior citizens all around the world who don't have anyone to think about them and their only hope is through their respective governments, to receive what they can afford to give and be contented with whatever their government has in store for them.
Prepare If You Must
As a child to an aging parent, you should talk to the latter while you still can, while they are still healthy. Ask them whatever they want in the future and what they want to be done when the time comes that they can no longer live without asking for help from the people that care about them.
Remember that it is only inevitable that you will be like a parent to your parents. It is still your decision on how you will do it but the best thing you can do in caring for older people is to do such with love and warmth because they are the ones who looked after you in times when you needed them the most.
